This is a simple set of tools used for a variety of purposes for use with Video Files.

Here are the tools developed to date:

  • VideoUpdater - A simple tool used to convert EDL files into Chapters and embed the Chapters (CHAP or EDL) and Subtitles (SRT / IDX / SUB) files into MP4, M4V or MKV files. The tool works recursively on directories and has drag and drop options for manual processing. Just make sure the CHAP, EDL, IDX, SUB, SRT files are along with the source video files and tool will do the rest.
  • SubtitleChapterExtractor - A simple tool used to extract chapters and subtitles (including multiple subtitle tracks) from video files (MKV, MP4, M4V etc) into OGG CHAP, IDX and SRT subtitle files. The tool works recursively on directories and has drag and drop options for manual processing. This tool also has a command line versions for Subtitles and Chapters for batch scripting.
  • EDL2Chapter - A simple GUI tool used to validate and convert EDL files into XML and TTXT chapter files. This can be useful when you want to used the output of Comskip or Showanalyzer to embed the commercial chapters instead of removing them. The XML and TTXT files are compliant with MKVMerge, MP4Box and other tools chapter specifications. The tool works recursively on directories and has drag and drop options for manual processing. This tool also has a command line version for batch scripting.
  • SRTValidate - A simple command line tool used to validate and correct (if possible) SRT files. Some tools such as MKVMerge are very finicky about the SRT format. Sometimes tools like CCExtractor create non compliant SRT files which can corrected with this tool. The tool works recursively on directories and has drag and drop options for manual processing. This tool also has a command line version for batch scripting.
  • ToMKV - A simple tool used to convert any Video file into a MKV file container. It does not recode, only changes the container to a MKV format. It preserves all Video, Audio, Subtitle, Chapters, Tags etc found in the original file into the MKV file. The tool works recursively on directories and has drag and drop options for manual processing.
  • WMCMetadataUpdater - A simple CLI tool used to update Metadata on Windows Media files (WTV, DVR-MS, ASF, WMV etc). It uses Windows DirectShow filters to access and update the metadata. DirectShow filters are installed by default on Windows 7 and newer OS's. For older OS's like Windows XP, Vista and Server you will need to manually install WMC or DirectShow filters for this tool to work. This tool can be used with batch scripting.
